On Wednesday the Bombala golf ladies played the second round of the Club Championships and the Captains Trophy. What a day it was, one of the coldest the ladies have experienced on the course and it got worse as the day went on. It was a credit to all the ladies completing the 18 holes. The winner of the Trophy was Betty Crawford with a good round of 70 nett. Balls were won by Jean McLean 72 nett, Di Ingram and Joy Douch 77 nett and Heather Brown 82 nett.

Saturday was the third round of the championships, playing for the Presidents Trophy. Hitting off with the sun shining, the course was white with frost and we heard it was minus 9. It was difficult trying to locate balls. Didn’t have to worry about the dams and creeks the balls just skipped over the ice making for some laughs.
Georgina Withers performed really well winning the day with 65 nett. Balls were won by Gay Kennedy 71 nett, Betty Crawford 77 nett and Di Ingram 79 nett. The Kay Cuthel Memorial Trophy was won by Jean McLean.
The Club Champion for 2017 was Joy Douch with a round of 93 and a total of 291 over the 54 holes. Joy played consistent golf leading the way from day one. Daylight was second with Di Ingram on 305. Handicap Champion was Jean McLean with 220 nett. Jean was also consistent with round of 75, 72 and 73 nett. Congratulations to our champions. Members on Saturday played a Secret 9 for J Vincent Trophy. The winner of the Secret 9 was Simon Stephen. Balls were won by Simon, Merv Douch and Michael Lidden. NTP: Simon Stephen.
Sunday was a Stroke for the Imperial Hotel Trophy. With a large numbers of players at Tathra for their Winter Open it was a small field. With the wind blowing making it hard to keep balls on the fairways Brad Yelds was the best of a bad lot winning with a 79 nett from Pepper 80 nett, Ross 80 nett, Di Ingram 80 nett and Heather 81 nett. Tough day at the office.
