The new shed will house the Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes’ Unit’s rescue boat and is funded thanks to a $40,000 NSW Government grant from the 2015 round of the Community Building Partnership program. Marine Rescue NSW is supported by NSW Roads and Maritime Services, and has contributed an additional $100,000 to the shed building project in Jindabyne.
Mr Barilaro praised the work of the Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes and thanked them for the hard work and time that they contribute to keeping the major waterway safe.
“Lake Jindabyne is an amazing body of water and one of the many local attractions that the people of the Monaro and visitors to the region can enjoy,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I thank the Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes unit for endeavouring to keep the lake safe. Volunteers give their time and effort to ensure that those who enjoy the lake are taken care of in the case of an emergency.
“I’m very pleased to be able to announce the commencement of construction on the new boat shed and I am glad that the Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes unit is being supported by the NSW Government through the Community Building Partnership program as well as through additional funding from Marine Rescue NSW.
Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes Unit Commander Les Threlfo is grateful for the NSW Government’s generous support.
“Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes has a place to call its own,” Mr Threlfo said.
“It will be great to have a secure, waterproof shelter for our boat. We really appreciate Mr Barilaro’s continuing support for Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes.”
