President of the Bombala Bike Show committee Darren Cotterill said that this year’s show was shaping up to be bigger and better than in previous years.
“This year we are raffling off a 2017 Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle and tickets are already on sale. Raffle tickets are limited to only 500 and one ticket costs $100 which makes it pretty good odds,” he said.
To get the show rolling, the Bombala Bike Show committee is holding a warm up Poker Run on Saturday, September 16.
“The bikes will be leaving Bombala about 10.30am and travel around various hotels down to the coast finishing back at the Globe Hotel later in the day,” Mr Cotterill said.
“Later that evening there is a Leather and Lace night with entertainment at the Bombala RSL Club.
“Like last year, there will be free camping at the showground and across the road. The Bike Show will kick off on the Friday evening with a band. There will also be three bands playing on Saturday evening,” he said.
The 2017 Bombala Bike Show will have all the action of previous years, although planning is still very much underway.
There will be a “Show and Shine”, but all the categories have yet to be properly decided.
“Along with the Show and Shine categories there will be the loudest bike competition and a tyre toss.
“We are having the annual burnout competition which we are pushing. This year’s will be even bigger and better than previous years and has a total prize pool of $4000 on offer for winners of the burnout,” Mr Cotterill said.
The 2017 Bombala Bike Show will have all the usual food stalls, fish and chips, coffee, icecream with local services clubs holding barbecues.
Children and families are well catered for with a Kiddies Corner that has games and activities.
