During term 3 at Bombala Public School the Game Development Officer from the National Rugby League (NRL), Damian Kennedy held sessions with students from K-6.
A Bombala Public School representative said that the children had not only learned new skills but also had great fun playing a new sport.
“Thank you Mr Kennedy for sharing your expertise and teaching us many new skills. We look forward to NRL at Bombala Public School in 2018.”
Golf
On Wednesday, the Bombala lady golfers braved the cold and extremely windy weather conditions to play a Stroke for J. Cowell Trophy and Putting on Wednesday. The winner was Eva L’Estrange with the good score of 71 nett considering the conditions. Balls went to Joy Douch 73 nett and Heather Brown 78 nett. Putting was won by Jean McLean 30 putts.
On Saturday the men ventured out in cold, windy and small showers to play a Mulligan – Stableford for S Stephen Trophy. Ross Brown had a big grin knowing the handicapper couldn’t get him for his good round of 48 pts and he still had a couple of shots left. Balls were won by Ross and Pepper Thompson (who also had a smile) with 46 pts. NTP was won by Merv Douch.
Sunday was a Par for Club Trophy. Ind. Acc. What a difference a day makes with the men playing in beautiful spring weather. Ross Brown continued his good golf with a round of +4. Handicapper will get you this time. Balls went to Ross, Brendan Weston +3 and Pepper Thompson + 2 these chaps also having good rounds. NTP won by Wayne Elton.

Women’s sport grants
Local sports clubs in the Monaro are being invited to apply for grants of up to $20,000, with the focus this year of encouraging more talented girls and young women into sport programs.
Clubs are now eligible to apply for funding under the government’s Local Sport Grant Program. The grants cover initiatives like new sport programs, upgrades or projects that improve participation in sport.
