While Australia experienced its hottest winter on record, New South Wales was still warmer than average though it also had its coldest average winter nights since 1997, according to the Bureau.
Nationally it was the ninth driest winter on record.
According to Bureau’s spring outlook, it looks like the season is going to continue to be warmer than average for the north and southeast of the country.
