Local lass Rochelle Voveris and her family have just returned home from Queensland where Rochelle competed against 34 other riders at the Pony Club Qualifying Championships at Roma Pony Club in Queensland.

Twelve-year-old Rochelle came an overall fifth in the championships bringing home with her seven ribbons won in the Sporting section of the gymkhana.
Four other members of the Cobargo Pony Club also made the long trek to the Roma Formal Gymkhana.
Rochelle travelled with her family, mum Kelly, dad Aaron, her three brothers and sister.
“It was a 17 hour road trip with a stop over at Coonamble,” Mrs Voveris said.
“We also took Rochell’s horse Dynamite a 15.1 hand, bay, Australian Stock Horse.”
Rochelle has been riding since she was three years old and these day’s she rides every day.
Mum Kelly says she likes anything do to with horses, “she drives me mad”.
Rochelle has had Dynamite the Australian Stock Horse for about six months now. Before Dynamite she previously rode Buddy who is currently having a spell.
She has a thoroughbred call Lady that she uses for show jumping and a Brumby cross stock horse called Whiskey who is a great all rounder.
The Roma Pony Club qualifying championships are run over five days.
On Monday, September 25 the formal gymkhana takes place, followed by the Stockman’s Challenge on Tuesday; Wednesday is the Campdraft, Thursday is Sporting and Friday is the Mounted Games.
“Rochelle works very hard and we are really proud of her,” mum Kelly said.
Rochelle’s favourite, the Sporting event consists of a Barrel Race, Bending Race, Flag Race, Bawnduggie Bend, 3 Mug Race, Cloverleaf, Diamond Flag and Scudda Ho.

Mrs Voveris said that Rochelle had come third in Barrel race; third in Flag Race; third in the Clover Leaf; ninth in Bending Race, fourth in Diamond Flag and seventh in 3 Mug.
“Barrel Racing is her most favourite event, because she can go really fast, she likes that.
“Overall Rochelle came fifth out of 34 other riders from Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia,” she said.
“While we were there we camped at the Roma Showground and Race Course where we were looked after with a normal canteen running throughout the entire gymkhana.
“I’d really like to say thank you to Neil and Angie Duncan for looking after Dynamite and helping to coach Rochelle,” Mrs Voveris said.
