Senator the Hon Fiona Nash said the funding would go towards a new basin, drainage pipes, kitchen cupboards and a bench.
“Living in rural NSW, I know how important the Men’s Shed is for providing men with activities and support and for fostering strong community ties.
“This funding round helps Men’s Sheds to buy tools and equipment, support community projects and training, maintain or develop their buildings, or create local activities to improve men’s health.
“I aim to help build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and investing in Men’s Shed helps do that.
“This Men’s Shed serves its 14 members and offers social activities, carpentry, repairs and making household items. Members have an opportunity to pass their skills to others, learn new things, or just catch up regularly with other men in the community for a chat and a cup of tea,” Senator Nash said.
This grant funding is part of the $5.1 million the Federal Government has provided to the Australian Men’s Shed Association through to 2018-19 to support the national network of Men’s Sheds.
