Bombala had nine basketball teams take part in the Merimbula Cup on Sunday. The Merimbula Cup is a day tournament playing against teams from Merimbula, Orbost and Cooma, with each team having 2-3 games each. Overall Bombala played 24 games. Although we did not come away with an overall win, the club feels that the Merimbula cup is a day not to forget, with many smiles and lots of laughter coming from all that participated.
The Bombala Basketball Association would like to give a huge thank you to all those that participated, the umpires, first aid officers, coaches, score keepers and supporters. Overall a great time was had, and the committee is so proud of everyone that participated, with many children stepping up and playing an extra game or two in the older age division. This is an amazing effort from Bombala, we never gave up and everyone played with respect and a great level of sportsmanship. A big thank you to Merimbula Sharks for inviting us to participate in their tournament.
Golf
Bombala lady golfers held their Picnic Day on Wednesday starting with a nine hole Stableford that was won by Berry Crawford with a score of 20 points. After golf and lunch there was a secret Santa. Some great thoughts going into these small gifts.
The members played a Mixed Drill for Ross Brown and Wayne Eccles Trophies on Saturday. The winners were Leon Jones and Cary Elton 62 nett from The Two Rays 63 nett. These chaps were the ball winners.
There was a Club Trophy for the four men playing the final of the 4 Ball Match Play. Paul Halligan and Ross Brown defeated Tony Brady and Colin Gronow 2/1. Congratulations Paul and Ross. The winner of the trophy was Colin Gronow 36 pts. You didn’t go home empty handed Col.
Sunday was a Par for Club Trophy. Ind. Acc. The winner once again was Heather Brown + 3. The good golf continued beating the men and having another Chicken Dinner. Balls were won by Heather, Wayne Elton + 1, Herbie Elliott and Joel Cherry also +1. NTP on the 13th. After many weeks Ray Crawford hit a good shot to win the nest egg. Just missed his birdie.
