The NSW Government has signed a long-term head lease with Charlotte Pass Village Pty Ltd to secure the future of the resort and allow investment for summer tourism.

Mr Barilaro said Monday’s (November 13, 2017) announcement will give communities and businesses in Charlotte’s Pass the confidence to invest in their future.

“This agreement will enhance the important economic benefits the resort provides to the local community and the people of NSW,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Securing the future of the resort will allow Charlotte Pass Village Pty Ltd to start investment into developing a summer program of events.

“We share the view that the resort can offer world-class winter and summer attractions that will boost year-round visitation to the region.”

“Charlotte Pass Village Pty Ltd will tap into this growing tourist market and develop a new summer events program that not only showcases but protects the unique alpine environment,” he said.

Kosciusko National Park offers exceptional bushwalking, fishing, mountain biking and camping experiences throughout summer.

The lease will take effect from May 1, 2018 and plans are already underway to improve facilities. A commitment for an initial 10-year investment will see the refurbishment of the Kosciuszko Chalet Hotel and upgrades to the standard of accommodation.

Food and beverage facilities on offer will be improved and trading hours will be extended.

Minister for the Environment Gabrielle Upton said under the new agreement tourists will be able to experience the world renowned beauty of the Snowy Mountains year –round.

“Our new summer events program will also showcase what the national park and the region has to offer,” Environment Minister Gabrielle Upton said.

With the grant of a head lease at Charlotte Pass, the NSW Government’s Perisher and Charlotte Pass Management Review is now finalised.
