With so much riding on the result, the opening 20 minutes were very physical, with both teams attempting to find a weakness in the other's defence.
Narooma were the first to score, although Bombala hit back soon after with some fine backline passing enabling Billy Ingram to score in the corner.
The conversion was unsuccessful, leaving the score Narooma 6 to Bombala 4.
Willy Stowers was the next to score from a well worked scrum base move, where he brushed passed two defenders to lunge over near the corner.
Willy was constantly a threat to the opposition and put in a 'sterling' performance in both attack and defence, in what was his best performance of the year (to date).
Right on the stroke of half time Bombala were given another opportunity to score, courtesy of another bruising two-man tackle that led to a Narooma mistake.
Showing enthusiasm in the dying seconds of the half, the Bombala forwards ran to the scrum and from the ensuing set of six, Clay Clear crashed over next to the posts, bringing the score to 16 to 6 Bombala's way.
From the resumption Bombala allowed Narooma to make easy yards in attack, and narrowly escaped letting in points.
After a poor opening five minutes, the boys settled down to their pattern of play, and were being ably led around the park by Clay Stewart and Luke Kimber.
Bombala were next to score with a good close range try to Jason Simpson, who was close to being the best on the field with a non-stop performance in both defence and attack.
Narooma returned the favour shortly after, and the match was still evenly poised at 20 to 12 Bombala's way, with 20 minutes left to play.
With Narooma deep in attack, Matt Joseph came up with the ‘play of the day' in the form of a marvellous one-on-one tackle which saw his opposition bundled into touch in goal, just when it seemed Narooma were set to score.
From the tap kick resumption, Bombala were able to go the length of the field to score, with Cameron Cook crossing the line in the corner after some heavy body contact which saw both Cook and the opposition full back unable to get to their feet for several minutes.
With the game safely in Bombala's keeping at 24 to 12, Scott Moreing scored his first try of the season, which could not have come at a more timely opportunity, to put the icing on a wonderful team performance.
The Bombala Blues won the game 30 to 12. This now means that Bombala will contest the Grand Final this Sunday, September 9 against Eden at the Bega Recreational Ground.
Kick-off is at 2.30pm, and the club would like to see a big contingent of Bombala people at the game to cheer the Blues to victory. It would also be good for the Bombala people to congregate together so that our presence will well and truly be noticed.
As is always the case, the club would like to thank its sponsors and supporters in what has been, to this point, a very successful season. With everybody's vocal support let's go all the way.
See you at the big one!
