The trolley was removed just after the railway closed, and stored at the Heritage Museum.
It has been returned still in its original state when removed, complete with fence wire to hold it together!
The porters trolley will go on display “as is” at the Bombala Railway.
The Friends of the Bombala Railway would like to thank the Canberra Rail Heritage Museum for the donation and return of this trolley.
This tops off what has been a great week for the group, as one of the original bench seats of the site was also returned to the railway last week.
Beyond this, locals may also have noticed a flatbed truck now situated on the rails between the station and turntable.
This truck is on loan from Goulburn Rail Heritage, and is likely to find a home here in Bombala as long as the Friends of the Railway group operates.
The truck will have some restoration work completed on it as funds become available.
“We have struck a very good relationship with Goulburn and Canberra Rail Heritage centres, with more rolling stock set to arrive over the coming months,” a spokesperson said.
If anyone has items of railway significance, please let the group know on 6458 4426, as they are always happy to place them back at the railway for everyone’s interest.
