'Sad' KP wishes England all the best

Kevin Pietersen has wished England all the best for the future a day after being given his marching order by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The star batsman, who held a session on how to play spin for his Surrey teammates while his fate was being decided, did not criticise ECB management for their decision, instead expressing his disappointment he will no longer be wearing the three lions of his adopted country.

Pietersen posted a picture on Twitter of him departing the SCG in the fifth Test last month, which turned out to be the last of his 277 appearances for England.

"So sad that this will now be the last time I leave a field in an England shirt... Incredibly overwhelmed by the support overnight! Thank you so much.. #626 #185 #7(my caps). I love England and I honestly hope they have every success in the future."
