The Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW Local Health District has advised the Bombala community that a staff vacancy has put the mobile BreastScreen van temporarily out of service.
But the health service has promised to provide help for any women who need transport to and from their appointments in Cooma.
BreastScreen NSW director, Debbie Lattimore, has apologised for any inconvenience.
Ms Lattimore reassured all women that they would receive their scans within the recommended treatment timeframes.
“MLHD is now making arrangements for women due to be screened by the mobile service in coming weeks to have their appointments in Cooma,” Ms Lattimore said.
“Invitations will shortly be issued by BreastScreen NSW to those due for a mammogram.”
The van has been grounded since March because of the staff vacancy.
Women with inquiries or those wanting to make an appointment are urged to contact BreastScreen NSW on 1800 814 145 or 13 20 50.
