Mrs Peadon is the daughter of a World War 1 veteran and has a family member currently serving in the defence force.
“It’s a cause that’s pretty close to home,” Mrs Peadon said, adding that a number of young people from the Bombala district had also joined the defence force.
“My family, together with the lives of many local people, have been touched by the defence force,” she said.
Soldier On is about Australians coming together to show their support for our physically and psychologically wounded.
The charity – which is independent of government – aims to give those who have served our country the
dignity they deserve and the chance to do and be whatever they choose.
City2Surf starts from Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD and finishes at Bondi Beach.
More than 80,000 people are expected to take part in the event this year.
It will be Mrs Peadon’s fourth City2Surf attempt.
People wanting to support Mrs Peadon in her quest can visit her supporter’s page at https://city2surf2014 .everydayhero.com/au/julie-16 on the City2Surf website or pick up a form from Bombala Post Office.
