Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the workshops were developed by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, in collaboration with TAFE NSW.
“We are delighted to be providing our Visitor Information Centres with the right tools to deliver high-quality service for the people visiting the Monaro,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Our amazing region has so much on offer and this fantastic program will offer staff the must-know tips and insights to deliver great visitor experiences.”
NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the workshops are free and open to all Visitor Information Centre staff, whether they work full-time, part-time, as a casual or as a volunteer.
“The NSW Government is delivering a tourism bonanza for rural and regional areas so we want to make sure we provide crucial training for our local advocates and equip them to educate travellers and promote their regions,” Mr Marshall said.
“Growing tourism in rural and regional areas is a top priority for the NSW Government, we know how vital the industry is to local communities and we’ve committed record funding to help grow local visitor economies.”
