On Monday morning Victoria’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning issued an Advice alert for the town of Buchan and surrounds in east Gippsland.
There is currently no threat to the township of Buchan, but residents have been asked to plan for what they would do if the situation changes.
Fire suppression work is continuing around the perimeter of the fire and back burning operations will continue through the rest of the week.
Firefighters are patrolling this fire and emergency services vehicles remain in the area.
Significant smoke is expected in the area for the next few days.
Nearby residents should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. If you have time check your neighbours, and if you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.
