Students from St Joseph’s Primary School have presented a range of thoughtful and captivating 3D playground models, paving the way for future playground construction in Bombala.
Following months of hard work, students presented their final playground designs to council’s Major Projects manager Linda Nicholson, Recreation and Property technical officer Jane Kanowski, family and friends.
“All the students should be very proud of their efforts. The students designed and built a playground space that incorporated elements of physical, social, mental, and spiritual well-being for people of all ages and abilities,” Linda Nicholson said.
The students have completed their time studying playground design, a cornerstone of their project based learning. The 3D models included: Community gardens, slides, handball courts, picnic areas and bright, colourful equipment.
“Students learnt a lot of valuable skills and Council is very appreciate of their work. The designs are very exciting, it was a pleasure working alongside the students. It was a great community partnership. “
Throughout the project there were a number of valuable skills learnt: Team work, communication, presenting, engineering and building.
Council staff presented students with a certificate of achievement for their outstanding efforts. The students will continue their involvement throughout the design and construction of an all-abilities playground in Bombala.
