A few games of social bowls were played over the holiday period. On December 13, Chris X and B Ingram defeated J Adamson and A Dent 12 to 11. On January 6 M Guthrie, N Brotherton, R Callaway and A Dent defeated C Baker, Chris X, K Elliott and K Callaway 17 to 10.
Last Saturday and Sunday, January 13 and 14 the annual Karrawatha Carnival was held sponsored by Monaro Logging, Jamies Bob-Cats and the Delegate Hotel. As usual some 84 bowlers participated, both local and many visiting clubs participating. Even with the weather being not the best the weekend was a great success.
Results as follows- “A” Grade Winners R. Cochrans team; “B” Grade winners Team McLennon; “C” Grade Winners G Bell team and “D” Grade Winners Team W Brownlie.
Golf
Bombala Golf club this week has little to report as some chaps travelled to Tathra for their Summer Breeze Tournament. The players at home on Saturday got wet after playing only five or six holes and headed for the club so no results for Saturday.
Sunday with the weather looking doubtful a small field headed out to play 18 holes. Although it rained during the morning they had a dry afternoon. Pepper Thompson was the winner with 38 pts. No one hit the green on the 13th.
The Chicken Runs continue for another couple of weeks and the program for the week is as follows. Saturday, January 20 – 18 Holes Chicken Run. Sunday 21 – 9 Holes Chicken Run. Friday 26, Australia Day – 9 Holes Chicken Run. Saturday 27 – 18 Holes Chicken Run. Sunday 28 – 9 Holes Chicken Run.
February, Saturday 3 – 18 Holes. Sunday 4 – Opening Day. Mixed Chapmans.
There is a Working “B” on Friday, January 26 to sand and oil greens. Starting time is 8.30am.

Tathra bowls
The Tathra Beach Sea Breeze Tournament started on Thursday with a 4BBB Stableford played on the first day.
The winning pair were mother and daughter, Wendy Hergenhan and Katie McGregor, with a score of 44 pts. Runners up, on 43 pts, were Jo Byrnes and Joan Hardy on a c/b from Jo Byrnes and Juanita Trent. NTPs were won by Debbie Noble on the 9th, Pam Hahne and Rhonda Castellari, equal, on the 14th and Di Evans on the 18th. Scores of 40 and better won balls.
Day two a mixed 4BBB Stableford with 60 starters. Best score, 48 pts, went to John and Karen Enright. Runners up on c/b were Wayne Trent and Jo Byrnes, with 46 points, edged out Rob and Sue Howland.
