The community of Nimmitabel is holding Australia Day celebrations at Lake Williams starting at 8.30am with the Nimmitabel Lions Club putting on a ‘great Aussie breakfast’.

Nimmitabel Advancement Group president, Vickie Pollard said everyone was welcome to come along and join in all the fun on the day.
“We will have special guests, the Hon. Bronnie Taylor MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier of NSW, Snowy Monaro Regional Council Clr Bob Stewart and Nimmitabel Showgirl, Annette Fitzgerald.
“We are also delighted to have Maisie Morrow, 2017 The Land Royal Showgirl and Royal Agricultural Society Ambassador.
“Maisie is the daughter of David and Libby Bright and she has strong ties to the area where she is an agronomist and livestock nutritionist working for Landmark.
“She has a degree in rural science.
“The Royal Agricultural Society is proud to have Maisie as their young female ambassador for the agricultural show movement for rural NSW,” Ms Pollard said.
“She will also be opening the 2018 Royal Easter Show in Sydney this March.
“While Maisie is here on Friday she will be sashing Nimmitabel 2018 Showgirl Annette Fitzgerald.
“Snowy Monaro Regional Council councillor and former mayor of Bombala, Bob Stewart will be there representing council,” she said.
The official Australia Day celebrations and Community Service Awards will start around 9.30am.
After the official ceremony and the cutting of the Australia Day cake made and donated by Will and Caroline Jardine of the Nimmitabel Bakery, the games begin.
“We are having the inaugural Australia Day East Nimmitabel versus the West Nimmitabel Tug-a-War which should be a lot of fun,” Ms Pollard said.
“After the Tug-a-War there will be heaps of games for everyone to enjoy including the Australia Day Quiz, Thong Tossing, Three Legged Race, Egg and Spoon race, Sack races and a whole lot more.
“Come along and join in the fun, there will be prizes and ice-blocks for everyone.”
