Meanwhile the main Australia Day celebration and awards ceremony will be held at Centennial Park, Cooma kicking off at 10am with musical entertainment by Jay Podger and the Cooma District Band starting at 10.30am.
The Australia Day official awards and Citizenship ceremonies will be officiated over by Snowy Monaro Regional Council Australia Day ambassador, Emma Rossi, mayor John Rooney and Clrs Rogan Cobett and James Ewart.
Winston Phillips OAM will oversee the flag raising ceremony, Jay Podger will sing the national anthem.
Clr Ewart will welcome everyone before introducing mayor Rooney.
Mayor Rooney will welcome our new citizens before the formal introduction of the region’s Australia Day ambassador, Ms Rossi.
Cooma Rotary Club will be organising the food and coffee stalls.
Australia Day ceremonies at Michelago Railway Station, Numeralla Oval, Jerangle CWA Rooms all start at 8am on Friday morning with barbecue breakfasts except for Jerangle CWA, which will be holding a gourmet breakfast until 10am.
Breakfasts start at 8.30am in Nimmitabel at Lake Williams and Berridale Lions Park.
Meanwhile there will be a barbecue breakfast, flag raising ceremony and music at Jindabyne’s Banjo Paterson Park.
Clrs Peter Beer and Brian Old along with Ms Rossi will present the Australia Day Awards at Jindabyne.
The award ceremony at Bredbo’s Centenary Park will be overseen by Snowy Monaro Regional Council mayor Rooney followed by children’s entertainment, food and drinks starting at 11am and running through to 5pm.
Bombala is celebrating Australia Day in conjunction with the NSW Strong Wool Shearing competition on Saturday.
The day starts at 8.30am at the Bombala Showground.
Local Australia Day Appreciation Awards will be presented around noon by Ms Rossi and former Bombala mayor Bob Stewart.
