Cooma’s Centennial Park will host the official Australia Day Awards for the Snowy Monaro. There is a diverse range individuals and groups nominated for these.
I’m looking forward to meeting these nominees and the winners of our Australia Day Awards to thank them for their services to the region.
The Cooma Car Club and Cooma Lions Club are hosting a special breakfast to raise funds for the Louie Mould appeal.
Bombala holds their celebrations on Saturday with the annual shearing competition and family fun day.
Australia Day Ambassador Emma Rossi will see plenty of our region.
In Numeralla this weekend music will fill the air as the 44th Numeralla Folk Festival is held. Called the ‘little festival with the big heart’, the festival launches with a showcase of young talent from 7pm on Friday.
The festival is one of the last, traditional free folk festivals in Australia.
On Sunday, there will be a throwback to yesteryear with the running of the Monaro Billycart Derby.
This great family tradition will see many makes and models of billycarts take to the Cooma Showground.
This event started a few years ago through the hard work from local teenager Kurt Wassink and community stalwart Tony Nassar. Racing begins from 11am.
An enjoyable long weekend is in store for all.
