It was wonderful to see the region showcased to a national audience on Sunday with breakfast TV show, Weekend Sunrise broadcasting their weather reports live from Lake Crackenback. Hundreds of thousands of people across the nation awoke to the beauty of the mountains. This exposure is invaluable as we continue to promote the entire Snowy Monaro as an all-year round tourist destination.
On Monday, I accepted two large cheques from local member John Barilaro. The Bombala Platypus Reserve has received $218,502 to enhance the site and improve its accessibility.
Further money to the tune of $517,472 was allocated for upgrades at the Bombala Racecourse. This will see the construction of a new amenities building and improvements made to the caretaker facilities.
Thursday’s Council meeting is shaping up as an interesting one with plenty of agenda items for councillors to discuss and vote upon. There are six public presentations to start the meeting with residents presenting on a range of issues.
The February meeting is the first for 2018 and will be held in the Cooma Chambers. The meeting gets underway from 5pm and will again be webcast via the council website.
