This year is another highlight for the club as it celebrates 65 years
- Simone Hillyer
Spokesperson for the Bombala Junior Blue Heelers Rugby League Club, Simone Hillyer said that back in 2014 the club had about 21 registered players.
“In what was a massive achievement in 2017 the club has over 90 registered players and we’re hoping to repeat this in 2018.
“Bombala Junior Rugby League Club is still calling for names to fill some of the junior sides to ensure that the game is enjoyed by everyone,” she said.
Group 16 offers age groups in the under 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s and 16’s and Girls Tag 9-12 and 13 to 16.
“At some stage every child will have to play in an age group that is older than their current year, but they are not alone as every club experiences this issue,” Ms Hillyer said.
“It is very likely that your children will be playing against the players they played against in the previous years,” she said.
The Bombala and District Blue Heelers Rugby League Club has a strong history and in recent years the Bombala Showground has been packed with horns honking and people cheering on their home teams, even more so when there are junior and senior games held on the same day.
“This year is another highlight for the club as it celebrates 65 years and we hope to continue the community spirit and celebrate 65 years with true Bombala pride.
“We are hoping to have another fun-filled year with new and old players,” Ms Hillyer said.
