The Flickerfest programme presents a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films hand-picked from the festival’s 2,500 entries, giving local Flickerfest audiences of Australia the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.
If you are a fan of films you are encouraged to come along, Clare McManhon of Pambula Rotary said “especially high school students who are interested in film making or are studying the arts – they should come and see the talent involved in the making of these short films.”
Bringing something to town that we don’t normally get to see

Each film varies in duration from four to 20 minutes and three to include English subtitles.
Rotary have chosen two Flickerfest categories to put up on the big screen, The best of Australian short films on Friday for 119 minutes and Short laughs comedy on Saturday for 90 minutes. Ms McManhon said Pambula Rotary are excited to host the event again this year “bringing something to town that we don’t normally get to see.”
“Take the opportunity to enjoy these short films, you may not like all of them but some of them will stick with you forever,” Ms McManhon said.
If you can’t make it to both nights Ms McManhon recommends attending the Friday night. Highlights from the Best of Australian shorts include the beautifully crafted and creative Australian animation ‘After All’ which was awarded both Best short Australian animation and Best screenplay at the Flickerfest awards ceremony in Bondi in January.
Lock yourself into your seat for the dramatic and inspiring ‘Miro’, an Aboriginal Western short film staring Mark Coles Smith and the delightfully quirky and creatively animated Martha The Monster, starring the voices of actress Rose Byrne and her husband Bobby Cannavale.
Settle in to your Saturday night with an evening of clever comedy and chortle you way through a selection of off-kilter funny shorts from Australia and across the world with the Short laughs comedy programme. Highlights include the hilarious ‘Fern’ from the UK about a woman who loses her husband and finds a potted plant.
Come along in your comfiest attire, the room will be set in a theater style with doors opening at 7.30pm. Anyone under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available for pre-purchase at Club Sapphire reception or on the door at a cost of $18 each.
This fundraising event is one you can not miss. With the support of Club Sapphire, both Flickerfest and Pambula Rotary have committed all proceeds to the Tathra Bush Fire Appeal.
