According to Delegate Tennis Club spokesperson, Su King, the kids had a great time, and learnt some fantastic new skills and games.
“The day would not have been so successful without the enthusiasm and expertise of Maree Coates and Joyce Reed,” Ms King said.
The day consisted of a hit out so the organisers could gauge the stages the young players were at.
After a morning tea of fruit the children played some tennis.
The older children played competitions and the younger children played “cricket”.
As the wind got stronger, lunch was served, with tennis raquets and balls being put aside for a fun game of “Pacman”.
“The Tennis Clinic was designed to help the children become more familiar with actual comp games, and coming off the back of the successful tennis season of lessons made possible through the Delegate Tennis Club, the future of tennis in Delegate is going to have a strong future,” Ms King said.
“It is quite hard to get sports activities to run in rural regions and towns, so tennis is a positive for our children and out of school activities.
“It is also a positive for the future of the Delegate Tennis Club as the upcoming generations grow up into loving the game and keeping the Tennis Club alive.
“Thank you to the kids for attending, thanks to the volunteers of mothers and thanks to Joyce and Maree,” Ms King said.
