Growing up in Bombala, Ms Girvan was always involved in school and community sport.
In fact she credits Bombala High School and her first soccer coach and later maths teacher, Jamie Little who she says contributed to her falling in love with an area of sport which is predominantly numbers and statistics.
Ms Girvan completed her full time post graduate degree while she was working full-time as a Performance Analyst for the W-League team Canberra United and was head analyst in the 2017/18 season.
Ms Girvan has been wood-chopping since 2011 and has competed in wood chopping in the UK.
