On Tuesday, the Member for Monaro, John Barilaro, strengthened the year-round appeal of the Snowy Monaro with a $27 million announcement.
The money will be spent on creating and upgrading walking and mountain bike tracks within Kosciuszko National Park.
$17 million will go towards creating a 44km world class multi-day walk. 25km of new track will be built, linking Thredbo, Perisher and Lake Crackenback.
A further $10 million will join the Thredbo Valley Track (TVT) with the existing trail network around Lake Jindabyne. Once complete, the TVT will be 61km long.
Have you had your say on the Residential Aged Care sector within our local government area? A review into the rapidly-evolving sector is taking place.
Your feedback is welcomed and important. You can voice your opinion through an online survey at council’s Your Say website (yoursaysnowymonaro.com.au) or complete a hard copy survey that’s available at all council offices, libraries, Yallambee Lodge and Snowy River Hostel.
The Your Say platform is also a great tool for locals to help shape the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects. There are three major projects in Bombala that feedback can be made on.
On Thursday night, councillors will meet for the second Ordinary Council Meeting of the month.
This is in the Cooma Council Chambers and will be webcast. The meeting starts at 5pm.
Also on Thursday night, the Snowy Monaro Youth Awards will be presented. The awards recognise the valuable contributions young people make to our community.
The awards are part of 2018 Youth Week celebrations taking place across region. Our Snowy Monaro Youth Council has done a fantastic job in coordinating both the Youth Awards and Youth Week activities.
