NSS is organised by the Australia Library and Information Association (ALIA). Each year a picture book which has been written and illustrated by an Australian, is read in schools, libraries, childcare centres, bookshops and pre-schools across the country.
2017 saw the largest amount of participants in NSS history with over 650 000 signing up to be part of the special event.
This year the chosen book was 'Hickory, Dickory, Dash' By Tony Wilson and Laura Wood.
The school invited special guest councillor Bob Stewart to lead the story read-aloud.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the comical story of a cat attempting to catch a mouse.
St Joseph's sincerely thanks councillor Stewart for bringing the story to life.
