Some of the projects the students were asked to accomplish included – building a spaghetti bridge and making a tower from newspaper that would support the weight of a basketball. 

They were also charged with designing a car that could be propelled over a distance of two metres and designing and building a freestanding tower from jelly beans and toothpicks. 

There was also the challenge of designing a ball drop and a catapult.

Teachers said, “The STEM activities provided students with the opportunity to use many skills to create unique designs, to test them and modify them to meet design briefs. 

“It was a great day and many laughs were had as ‘creations’ were tested.”
