The Bombala Blue Heelers took on the Bateman’s Bay Tigers in their last home game for the season on Saturday. Unfortunately due to forfeits from the Bay’s reserve and ladies side, first grade were the only team to take to the field.

First Grade
The game started well for the home side, with an early try to Boro Navori (sponsored by Delegate Hotel) and with the conversion to Wame (sponsored by Bobbin Rustic Creations) successful, the boys were in front 6-0, 10 minutes into the first half.
Just two minutes later, Bombala were in again with a great try to Tevita Badago (sponsored by W&W Hampshire Plumbing) and with another successful conversion to Wame (sponsored by Bobbin Rustic Creations), the boys looked on a roll, taking early control of the game.
Next to score for the home side was Brett Hodak (sponsored by Clear Cut Electrical) and with the successful conversion the Heelers were now leading 18-0.
Just 10 minutes later, Bombala were in again with a great try to Wame (sponsored by Bobbin Rustic Creations) and after successfully converting his own try, the home side extended their lead to 24-0. Minutes later, Wame was able to offload a ball to Murray Jackson who went through untouched to score and with another successful conversion the lead was now 30-0 to the home side. Just before half time Blake Robinson (sponsored by MCH Welding) was able to get over the line and with another successful conversion, the boys went into half time with a convincing lead of 36-0.
The second half didn’t start well for the Heelers with an early try to Bateman’s Bay taking the score to 36-6. However next to score would be Wame (sponsored by Bobbin Rustic Creations) for the home side and with the conversion unsuccessful, the boys extended their lead to 40-6. Bateman’s Bay were able to hit back with a try of their own, taking the score to 40-12 in the home side’s favour. As the siren sounded for full time, Bombala were in for their final try of the day through Adam Rodwell (sponsored by Southern Stockyards and Fencing) and with a successful conversion, the final score read 46-12 in favour of the home side.
Points this week went to; Boro Navori, 3 points and player’s player for his strong running game and safety at the back, 2 points was shared between Adam Rodwell and Luke Ingram for their solid defence through the middle and 1 point was shared between Tyler Jones, Andrew Guthrie and Wame for their dominant attacking games.
The Blue Heelers will head down the mountain next week to take on the Bega Roosters in all three grades. The club invites spectators to get down and support their local teams as they look to continue their winning form leading into the last round games for the season.
