Member for Monaro John Barilaro presented the 1st Bungendore Scouts with $200,000 to further their development, made possible through the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants Program.
Mr Barilaro said the funding is on top of the $120,000 allocated for stage one of the scout hall project, which is currently being constructed.
“Bungendore has a rich history of scouting and this project will ensure that facilities are up to scratch in order to encourage strong participation in the future,” he said.
“1st Bungendore Scouts is a community institution that has been educating young people and teaching the importance of community and personal responsibility for many years.
“Late last year I visited the club to turn the sod on stage one of the new hall, where I was made an honorary member of the group. Since then, work has progressed and now the scouts are ready to start stage two.
“The funding will help to further enhance facilities to ensure that they are up to scratch to continue the fantastic work the association does in developing leadership and encouraging involvement amongst the youth in our community.
“There is no doubt that this project will benefit the Bungendore community for years to come and I look forward to seeing works progress.”
