Gorillas’ Nick and Jaiden King, Emanuel Sultana and Jake Davison and Stingrays’ Guy Rosewarn, Nikita Drew and Patrick Woodley were all identified at last Thursday’s special board meeting and will all front up to a judiciary hearing, in the next week of two, accused of breaching the NRL code of conduct.
“These seven players have been sent breach notices and will be expected to front up to the judiciary at Kiama, in the next fortnight,” Group Seven operations manager Peter Mehl said.
In more fallout from the incident, Mehl confirmed Group Seven has handed the two clubs involved penalties.
“Both Warilla-Lake South and Stingrays have been given a two-year good behaviour bond and been issued to pay a $2,000 fine up front – a fee they will get back if nothing else happens during the that two-year window,” he said.
“On top of that, Warilla home games will now have two security guards at the venue, as well as four ground managers – two inside and two outside Cec Glenholmes Oval.”
The incident, currently being investigated by Lake Illawarra Police, originally started on the field between the Gorillas and Stingrays, seeing Nick King and Drew sent off, and escalated after the full-time siren, off the field.
Mehl also confirmed both King brothers had been stood down by the Gorillas club following the incident, which he also said saw “a number of other players walk away from the club in protest of the pair’s sanction”.
