Councillors will meet for the second Ordinary Council Meeting this month on Thursday. The meeting will be held in the Cooma Chambers and will be live streamed via the Council website. Council will consider a number of reports and items, including a report detailing the progress made since Snowy Monaro Regional Council was formed in May, 2016.

Cooma residents are set to receive a 360L recycling bin in September. The new recycling bins will provide an easier and more convenient way of disposing of all recyclables. Residents will no longer have to separate paper and cardboard from other recyclables.
Playgrounds across the Snowy Monaro will be upgraded as part of the rollout of the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects Program (SCFMPP). Time is quickly running out to provide feedback on the concept designs for Centennial Park Playground in Cooma. As one of the most visited sites in our region, the playground plays an important role in attracting more tourists to stop in Cooma. Feedback closes at 5pm Thursday, August 16 .
It’s well known that our region boasts an array of sporting talent. This weekend, the Snowy Monaro will be well represented in the Group 16 rugby league grand finals. The Bombala Blue Heelers will take on the Bega Roosters in the first grade final, the Cooma Stallions play Bega in the reserve grade final, while the Bombala High Heelers play Eden in the Ladies League-Tag decider.

It’s shaping as a Snowy Monaro v Bega Valley Shire contest. The Bombala club has enjoyed a fantastic season and will be hoping their first grade side can go a step further than last year, when they lost to Cooma in the grand final.
The Group 16 finals will be held in Bega, with hundreds of locals making their way down the mountain to cheer their respective clubs on. I wish Bombala and Cooma all the very best.
