With the past two split Tests between the fierce rivals going down to the wire, Wallabies skipper Michael Hooper is bracing for another torrid trans-Tasman showdown at ANZ Stadium.

"There's no easy way around this thing, it's going to be hard and that's why different teams, different players have struggled over the course of however many years," Hooper said after Australia's captain's run on Friday.

Sixteen years, in fact, it's been since the Wallabies last hoisted the Bledisloe and Hooper says striking the perfect balance between aggression and accuracy will be key to ending New Zealand's dominant run.

"The line's hard to pick. You've got to feel it off your gut sometimes and it's something certainly the leaders in our team are constantly working on - trying to pick that line," the flanker said.

"You want to be, yes, fired up and be ready to get off your line and disrupt and everything like that.

"But also when things don't go your way, which against quality teams sometimes they don't, you've got to try to drag the momentum back.

"So not losing your head, keeping your cool, sticking to your game plan's important.

"That is very much what we're going to do this week - stick to our stuff, stick to our game and our game's ready to go against these guys tomorrow night."

The Wallabies are under immense pressure from success-starved Australian rugby fans, but Hooper insists they aren't feeling it.

"The expectation is only as great as the one we put on ourselves - and that's high," he said.

"I look around and I see world-class players across our team, so reaching their potential (and developing) into a world-class top team is exactly the expectation."

Snapping the All Blacks' two-year, seven-match winning streak over Australia with a 23-18 triumph in Brisbane last October, after being pipped at the death in a 35-29 heartbreaker in Dunedin, also counts for nothing.

"Plenty is made about the history, plenty is made about the time (since we won the Bledisloe)," said Hooper, who will surpass Stirling Mortlock and Rocky Elsom to become the Wallabies' fourth-longest-serving captain behind only George Gregan, John Eales and Nick Farr-Jones.

"All we can speak for is this group here right now and we've been thinking about what's ahead and we're ready and we're good to go.

"It's us versus the All Blacks. Bring it on."
