Ironically, after the flames of the fires had been doused by fire fighters and volunteers on Saturday afternoon, a snow storm followed during the night that left flurries of snow covering the ground.
“It’s the wildlife that I worry for,” Ms Wooldridge said. “I know the kangaroos can hop away from the flames, but there is nothing left there for them to eat, so they won’t be coming back for a while.
“And since the fire, I haven’t heard a possum run over my roof, and I’m worried they were caught up in the fire and their nests burned. They may have had babies and had nowhere to run to.
“Any birds with nests will also have been affected,” she said.
