Get up close with the Lexus Melbourne Cup for a once in a lifetime photo. The Cup is made from 44 pieces of hand-beaten 18-carat gold and valued at $200,000.
The Cup has 157 years of tradition attached to its name, and is travelling to 37 destinations across the globe.
Joining the celebrations and sharing their stories will be Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Wayne Harris and celebrated racing writer Keith Hillier.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour on the Sapphire Coast NSW will start with whale watching on Cat Balou Cruises on Thursday morning.
Then the Cup will be on its way to the Eden Fishermen’s Recreation Club for morning tea.
Merimbula Aquarium Wharf Restaurant will host the Melbourne Cup for a delicious lunch with VIP guests and Victoria Racing Club representatives.
The “People’s Cup” will then visit Tathra Beach Bowling Club where the public is invited to join in for dinner, drinks and guest speakers.
Cat Balou is donating $5 from every ticket sold to Marine Rescue and Tathra Beach Bowlo is donating $10 from all tickets sold to the Mayoral Tathra Bushfire Recovery Fund.
On Friday, September 28, the Cup will start the day at Wheeler’s Restaurant for a champagne breakfast, then will head to Bega Cheese Factory and Heritage Centre for morning tea, which will begin at 10.30am.
