On Wednesday the ladies stepped out on course for the second round of the Club Championships and the Captains Trophy.
Women’s Club secretary and new club champion, Dianne Ingram said after the atrocious conditions of the Saturday before it was a very pleasant day for golf.
The winner of the Captains Trophy on Wednesday was Di Ingram 69 nett on a c/b from Janet Cowell and Heather Brown 69 nett with balls going to Janet, Heather, Georgina Withers 71 nett and Gay Kennedy 72 nett.
The leader of the scratch after 36 holes was Di Ingram 184 and the handicap leader was Janet Cowell 142 nett.
The third and final round of the Club Championship was on Saturday with the ladies playing for the President’s Trophy.
The results were the 2018 Club Champion was won by Di Ingram 279 from Joy Douch 306.
Although it is not the first time that Ms Ingram has won Club Champion she said, it was many, many years since she had.
“Maybe even more than 20 year’s ago,” she said. “It was quite exciting.”
Ms Ingram said the first round she played wasn’t too bad and in the second round she went well.
“But the third round was my worst round. When you put a ball in the dam on the second hole, and walk off the green with a nine, it doesn’t do much for your confidence.
“However when it was all tallied up I came out the winner,” she said.
Mrs Ingram went on to say that Joy Douch had a good round on Saturday.
“It was just unlucky that she wasn’t on her game in the first two rounds, which is unusual for Joy as she is one of our top players.
The Handicap Champion was Janet Cowell 220 nett from Betty Crawford 224 nett.
“Janet had about a five year break from golf and she’s only just come back into it. She nearly wasn’t going to play in the championships, but she did. Her two first rounds were very good, but like the rest of us she was a little nervous in the third, but she still came out on top.”
