The Member for Monaro John Barilaro said these drought payments will ensure services in the Monaro can continue to operate during the adverse economic conditions associated with the drought period.
“Times are tough, but people in the Monaro are resilient and we need to keep functioning as normally as possible,” Mr Barilaro said.
Pre-schools to receive funding in the Monaro include:
Delegate & District Preschool $4,200
Bombala Pre-School Kindergarten $3,600
Nimmitabel Pre-School $4,000
Monaro Mobile Pre-School $4,700
Cooma Lambie Street Pre-School $7,800
Cooma North Pre-School $6,200
Captains Flat Community Pre-school $4,000
Braidwood Pre-School $10,800
Bungendore Pre-School $16,200
Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell said it is crucial the government continues to support families to ensure children always have access to top quality early childhood education, no matter where they live or what their circumstances are.
Funding will be allocated to services based on their enrolment numbers and location, and will be scaled according to the level of drought intensity.
Services can use this funding to assist families and children in a range of ways, including transport arrangements to maintain preschool participation, crisis planning or fee subsidies to further support families.
