Letter to the editor about the new all abilities Bombala playground

Letter to the editor – Bombala all abilities park in action

What a great sight to see the new All Abilities Park in action, with so many families enjoying it during the school holidays.

Eleven year old Charlie Campbell put pressure on council to have the playground open in time for the school holidays.

Eleven year old Charlie Campbell put pressure on council to have the playground open in time for the school holidays.

It is the culmination of months and years of planning and hard work by various members of the Bombala community.

Mrs Kath Farrell deserves a huge pat on the back. Kath has spent years quietly working away to make this dream come true, and she took it upon herself to raise money towards the project with the hope that one day it would see the light of day.

Kath also put an enormous amount of thought and research into the pieces of playground equipment that would be of most benefit to people of all ages and all abilities.

The Stronger Communities Fund money allowed the Council to finally achieve this much needed asset for the town.

Thanks must go to the Council staff and engineers who worked on the project, with the project  manager Linda Nicholson.

The Bombala and District Chamber of Commerce have also put in a great deal of time, as has the Bombala Community Representative Group. Many meetings and many ideas tossed around, to arrive finally at a wonderful result.

I'm reminded of the immortal words of Winston Churchill.. "Never give up. Never give up. Never give up!"
