Local children have given two new playgrounds in the Snowy Monaro the '’thumbs up'’ following the official opening of both recreational spaces last week.

On Friday, Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor John Rooney joined councillors, and local school students to officially launch the new Bombala Playground and Nijong Ninja Park in Cooma.
Delivered through the Stronger Communities Fund Major Projects Program, both playgrounds are being enjoyed by families throughout the region.
Mayor Rooney, councillor Sue Haslingden, and the community, attended the launch of the Bombala Playground.
Students from Bombala Public School and St Joseph’s Primary School tested out the Double Sky Rider (flying fox), the spinner, and the all abilities swing at the enhanced Bombala Playground.
“This playground is a wonderful asset to the Bombala community,” Mayor Rooney said.
“The launch was well attended. It was great to have the community come along to celebrate the official opening of this exciting playground.”
The flying fox proved the most popular piece of equipment, while the spinner came a close second.
At the Nijong Ninja Park, students from Cooma Public School, Cooma North Public School, and St Patrick’s Parish School showcased their ninja skills at the park’s grand opening.
Mayor Rooney, Clr Corbett, and Clr Ewart met with the students who gave the park the ‘thumbs-up’.
“Local families and visitors to the region will enjoy these playgrounds for many years to come,” Mayor Rooney said.
“We look forward to unveiling more playgrounds and projects through the Stronger Communities Fund. I thank the Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro for his support with this funding.”
The Nijong Ninja Park features a climbing wall, in-ground trampoline, and a xylophone.
“It is great to see this investment in the Snowy Monaro.”
