So says Delegate’s Su King, who led a tarot workshop at the weekend.
Tarot card decks have been used for divination from around the 18th Century, and while often linked with the occult or mysticism, Ms King said it’s more about seeking guidance on your life’s path.
“I find it’s a way of confirming what you already know, or if you are faced with two paths and unsure which one to take, it’s like asking guidance,” she said.
Ms King said she had been reading tarot cards since she was a teenager.
When asked to give a reading at the old Delegate Post Office recently, she thought “they were smart enough to do your own reading”, so decided to host a workshop.
“We are all intuitive, we can all read them and interpret what they mean for us,” she said.
For Ms King, it’s not just seeking the tarot’s guidance on major life changes, but also for daily advice.
“You could be just pulling a card for the day to get a feel for what the day may bring,” she said.
“It could be the Death card and a big change is coming you’ll have to deal with. Or it could be the 10 of Cups and a happy family gathering.
“Every card has its own story – it’s a matter of interpreting that story.”
Ms King said the weekend’s workshop was very successful and she plans to hold more in the future.
It’s part of wider plans for the old Delegate Post Office building, which has been opened up by Karen Cash as a giftware outlet and community workshop space.
Coming up on January 17 is a kids mosaics workshop, and then tie-dyeing on the 24th. Both workshops will run from 11am until 2pm with limited spots available. Contact Ms Cash on 6458 5289 or drop by the old post office during its opening hours Thursday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm.
Ms King operates The Healing Hub out of the building on alternate Wednesdays, 10am until 3pm, offering a range of alternative healing services such as chakra readings, reflexology, Theta healing, AromaTouch massage, yoga and meditation.
She also plans to hold monthly workshops with “something different” each time, not just tarot reading lessons. Call her on 6458 8315 for details.
“We’ll get creative in some way each month.”
