Bombala won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first on what looked would be a lightning fast Nimmitabel wicket.
The Bombala openers got off to a steady start both reaching double figures before Harry Sidhu (2/17) removed both in quick succession.
The run rate then slowed with some good tight bowling from the Aussie Hotel steamers.
When Damien Azzo (4/27) removed the dangerous Bombala middle order of Brad Tonks, Warren Thornton and skipper Mick Sullivan in a brilliant spell of leg spin bowling Bombala were struggling at 7/66 in the 18th over.
However the Bombala tail put up a fight, while not scoring quickly they were stubborn in not giving their wicket away.
The late introduction of Robbie Smith (2/5) wrapped it up quickly in the end. Bombala bowled out for 100 in the 28th over.
The Aussie Hotel innings got off to a slow start, a few wild swings and some close chances for the Bombala opening bowlers.
However once Mitchell Hynes (67*) got his timing the ball went flying to all parts, accompanied by Damien Azzo (23) they put on a match winning 87 run opening stand.
The game was over quickly after that with the Aussie hotel chasing the runs down 1/104 in the 18th over coming away 9 wicket winners.
Bombala captain Mick Sullivan said, “It was and very hot day and Bombala’s batting was a bit poor.
“We came back very rusty, but hoping we’ll do better when we face up against Coffey’s cricketers next week at Nimmitabel.”
Bombala Cricket Club is always looking for new players, anyone interested can contact captain Mick Sullivan.
Bombala trains once a week on Tuesday afternoons, 4pm at the Bombala Public School nets.
Funding has been allocated to Bombala Cricket Club to have their own pitch at the Bombala Showground which should be ready for next season.
“We are looking forward to getting our new home pitch in Bombala next year,” captain Sullivan said.
