This week's Golden Oldie is a photo of a group of people possibly at a ball at the Bombala Exhibition Hall. Do you recognise anyone or know when it was? We would love to hear from you if you do.
Last week's Golden Oldie photo was of the Walker - Elliot wedding on Saturday, June 28, 1947 at the Bombala Catholic Church.
Pictured in the photo are: Charlie Elliott, Jim Ingram, Mavis Walker, Lorry Elliott, Fay Heron, Lorretta Elton, and Claudette Elliott.
At the time, the Bombala Times published the photo with the following report.
"A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Catholic Church, Bombala, on Saturday, June 28, when Mavis, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Don Walker, and Mr Laurie Elliott, only son of Mrs Elliott and the late Mr. Arthur Elliott, were married, the Rev Fr D J Griffin officiating. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very lovely in a magnolia satin frock, with embroidered veil held on by a coronet of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of arum lilies and maiden hair fern. She was attended as bridesmaids by her sister, Ursula, and cousin Miss Maureen Reed, who also looked very nice in blue and pink net frocks respectively, with dollyvaden hats to match, trimmed with flowers. Their bouquets were of blue and white and pink and white arum lilies and maiden hair fern. There were three dainty flower girls, Fay Heron, Claudette Elliott and Loretta Elton, dressed respectively in mauve, green and lemon net frocks and each carrying baskets of pink stocks and maiden hair fern. Jimmy Elliott, dressed in the traditional satin suit and carrying a small white hat, was page boy. Mr Jim Atkins officiated as best man and Mr Jack Brownlie as groomsman. About a hundred guests were afterwards received by the mothers of the young couple at a well arranged reception in the Exhibition supper room, where Mr Rowley Bedingfield presided and the usual toasts were honoured and felicitations expressed in happy terms. The honeymoon is being spent in Sydney, the happy couple travelling via the coast and Nowra, the bride wearing a becoming green frock with black accessories.
