Mr Barilaro said the opening of the nominations coincides with the start of National Volunteer Week, an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the hard working volunteers around Monaro.
"Volunteers are an asset to our community, they are involved in all aspects of life and they bring their unique skills and experiences to help others," Mr Barilaro said.
"The Premier's Volunteer Recognition Program shows the appreciation and value we place on those making a real difference in the community."
Around NSW more than 2.1 million people volunteer and contribute 240 million hours of their time.
"Every time a person volunteers their time and gives back, our community is better off," Mr Barilaro said.
There are four categories open for nominations including: People with a lifetime of volunteering experience - over 40 years; people with over 25 years of volunteering experience; significant volunteering at any age; and student volunteering.
Since 2015, 28,600 volunteers have been recognised under the program for their contributions to their local communities.
The Premier's Volunteer Recognition Program is a commitment under the NSW Government's Volunteering Strategy 2016-2020.
