Held as part of Library and Information Week, this is the 19th year NSS has been held.
On Wednesday, May 22 at 11am, the book 'Alpacas with Maracas' written and illustrated by Matt Cosgrove was read to over 1,085,587 participants across Australia and New Zealand.
Students from Bombala Public School also took part with Mrs Anne Roberts reading the book to Kinder, Years 1 and 2 and Mr Mick Sullivan reading to Years 3 to 6.
School principal, Ms Jo Tozer said, both students and staff enjoyed the readings.
"A big thank you to both Mrs Roberts and Mr Sullivan," she said.
Bombala Library incorporated a song and some craft activities in conjunction with Simultaneous Storytime.
Bombala Library officer, Julia Merrit said the children enjoyed making some alpaca face masks and playing music instruments during the session.
"We had Kath Farrell from the Monaro Family Support Service come in a read the Alpacas with Maracas book."
"'Alpacas with Maracas' is a story about best friends Macca and his pal Al who love spending time together," author Matt Cosgrove said.
"When there is an opportunity to enter a talent contest the friends just can't resist."
