Both teams were off to a good start with Andrew Guthrie controlling the kicks in play to his advantage. The Bears made some early mistakes that enabled the Heelers to gain some good field position though the persistence of the Bears got them over the line early with a converted try.
The Bears were fired up and with a Heelers break away being dropped it was again the Bears that capitalised and scored out wide through Craig Dickson. The conversion unsuccessful brought the score to 10-0 to the Bears.
With some stern words of 'show some commitment' at half time by Heelers captain/coach James Coates it was hoped that the boys would find some much needed invigoration for the second half.
The Bears kicked off and managed to find touch and regain possession in their half. Again the enthusiasm of the Bears got them over the line and convert to take the score to 16-0. With continued missed tackles it was the Bears in again out wide through Liam Rankin, with the conversion unsuccessful the score went out to 20-0.
The Heelers continued to push back against the Bears and completed some pleasing sets again with the controlled kicks of Andrew Guthrie. The Heelers were patient close to the line again and put Logan Brownlie in for a try.
A precision kick from Andrew Guthrie got the Heelers the points on the board 20-6. The Bears continued the solid defence and the Heelers were pushing passes to gain a good field position when an intercept allowed the Bears, Paton to run away for a try under the posts and it was converted to take the final score to a 26-6.
A good win for the Bears and back to the drawing board for the Blue Heelers Reggies. Points for the Heelers went to Raymond Kading 3, Mitchell Power 2 and Sam Power 1.
