The Bureau of Meteorology advised these conditions are expected in the Snowy Mountains, Alpine, South West Slopes, Monaro, and Central Tablelands regions of NSW.
Motorists in these regions are advised to delay travel unless necessary, check the road conditions before travelling, take additional caution and drive to the conditions.
While some closures are necessary for the safety of motorists and workers, Roads and Maritime Services endeavours to maintain access along all major corridors within affected areas.
Snow and black ice create additional road hazards and motorists should reduce speed, limit braking, use daytime driving lights and keep an increased distance between cars in front.
Snow clearing equipment is placed at key locations and staff in the field will continually monitor traffic conditions.
Roads and Maritime crews will carry out salt spreading to reduce the likelihood of black ice forming.
Portable and permanent signs will be used to provide motorists with real time traffic information.
Road and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience at this time.
