Member for Monaro John Barilaro said voting opened on Monday, giving local residents the green light to cast an online vote for between three and five of the 21 nominated projects in the Monaro region.

"This is an innovative and exciting program that is putting decision making back in the hands of community members and giving them an opportunity to weigh in on their top picks for projects in the region," Mr Barilaro said.

"Voting is simple; people can log on to their online MyServiceNSW account and follow the directions, or they can visit a Service NSW centre and have a friendly staff member assist them in casting their vote.

"This is a really great way for people to engage with decision making that impacts them directly. I am encouraging everyone to have their say on the projects that will benefit them."

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said My Community Project is a fantastic opportunity for residents to have a direct influence on which projects should be delivered in their local community.

"My Community Project is a great example of real grassroots democracy in action, it asked people to think about things their community needs, develop those ideas with a sponsor and tell us how funding could turn that concept into reality," Mr Perrottet said.

"The great news is that from Monday, residents in all electorates across the state will get their chance to vote for their favourite projects in each electorate."

Residents in the Monaro can view eligible projects and vote online at mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au or by visiting their Service NSW centre.

Voting ends on August 15 with successful projects to be announced from September 2019.

My Community Project is made possible by the NSW Generations Fund and a total of $24.4 million is available for eligible projects, with between $20,000 and $200,000 available for each project. Information at www.nsw.gov.au/mycommunityproject
