U13 League Tag
The U13s Pink Pups headed down the mountain to take on Narooma. It was always going to be a tough ask with the Narooma girls sitting comfortably in second place on the ladder.
The Bombala girls were quietly confident and determined to give them a battle. In the first half Bombala moved up well and keeping the opposition at bay until a quick getaway saw the home side in for a try.
Bombala fought back with Gracie Brownlie weaving through bringing the score to 4-4, both tries unconverted. Narooma then scored another two runaway tries busting through the line.
The Pink Pups rallied, tightening up their defence with Ella and Montanna working hard cleaning up tag after tag. Kate Yelds was too quick, crossing over to bring the half time score 12-8 to Narooma.
The half time talk was positive and the girls knew they had to dig in to match the coastal side. They did just that, putting in a solid team effort in defence, moving up together and giving Narooma little room to move.
Lily Hampshire and Carlie French tagged well as the girls slowly wore the Narooma side down.
After a couple of sets on their line, their perseverance was rewarded; Tanner Hurley drawing the defender to put Bridie Hampshire in to score under the post. Bridie then converted her own try to bring the score to 14-12 Bombala's way.
There was still plenty of time on the clock for Narooma to fight back, but the girls held them scoreless in the second half with another amazing defensive effort.
As the hooter sounded the girls were elated with their victory over a top side. The Powerade Pink Pup went to Bridie Hampshire who had a great kicking game and lead the girls in defence and attack.
Coach Tash Stewart said, "Everybody did their job well and it was an excellent team effort. So proud of you all girls, awesome game."
