Friday was an extremely exciting day for Delegate Public School's Charlie Matthews and Errinundra Farran, who headed to the South Coast Regional PSSA Athletics Carnival at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Principal Brad Bannister said to compete at such an iconic venue is an achievement in itself and the two girls should be extremely proud of their efforts on the day.
Charlie found herself in a very fast heat where she finished fifth, which didn't allow her to go through to the final.
However, in the wash up of the entire day, she had the 12th fastest time overall from five heats of 10 plus the final of 10.
"She told me that now she knows what to expect and to watch out next year," Mr Bannister said.
Errinundra overcame illness that had been troubling her for the week leading up to the event to finish 21st in the 800m final.
Hopefully she will be back in 2020 competing for Eurobodalla Zone at the same carnival.
"It is a fine achievement to have two students from such a small school qualify for this level of competition and with further emphasis on PE and sport in our school, I look forward to continued involvement in these carnivals in the coming years."
